I don’t believe I have much in common with Simon Cowell.

Marketing Doris - keeping marketing on the right track

We mix in different circles. We rarely (if ever) bump into each other in the supermarket, and despite my love of monochrome clothing, we don’t frequent the same retailers.

This may be stating the obvious and I’ve only really brought this up as I was watching him and the other judges on X Factor. After all these years, I still puzzle over their comments and decisions about who’s good, bad and ugly

.. and it got me thinking, it could be considered that there are many similarities on how decisions are made about good marketing.  Is  it subjective or purely down to personal tastes or just sheer doggedness?  I don't know how Simon & Co make their judgements on music, but deciding on what is good marketing should depend on:

  1. If it meets the company’s objectives
  2. Is it within budget
  3. Is it targeting the right audience
  4. Is it delivering the right results
