Why Marketing is like Skiing

Why Marketing is like skiingI’m preparing to go skiing soon, and it occurred to me as I was practising at the indoor ski slope that marketing was a lot like skiing.
  • It gets the heart pumping – there is nothing like that rush as you are planning that product launch or new campaign and the thrill as you get positive feedback, sales enquiries and the tills ringing!
  • It’s not as easy as it looks – you need to know where you are going, be prepared for challenges / issues on the way and how you will adjust your plans accordingly as you go along
  • Get the right support and equipment to get the job done.  Bring in expert help and guidance as needed and there are many tools available for marketers and businesses for scheduling and analysis purposes.
  • Keep going – monitor your performance and adapt as you go along.  It isn’t always going to go according to plan and you should modify and develop to achieve the right results.

I’m probably not the best person to give you tips on parallel skiing or how to manoeuvre moguls but I can guide you through a marketing plan, devise marketing campaigns, manage a project and measure performance for Return on Investment (ROI).

Let’s meet for a coffee or maybe Glühwein would be a better option!
