Being inspired .. at the ski resort

</p

Where do you get your ideas from?

I've talked before about getting inspired in marketing anywhere and everywhere. It doesn't have to relevant to your industry or market but you can still be motivated and admire #goodmarketing

Having visited a French Alps ski resort before, I had expectations of how it would look and to a certain extent La Plagne was very similar.. but to quote a Vietnamese travel guide I once spent a couple of weeks with.. it’s ‘same, same but different’.

La Plagne had the edge (and I don’t mean a cliff edge), the way it presented itself felt more co-ordinated and sophisticated. In particular:

  • Branding – the resort logo is fun but appropriate and was visible throughout on leaflets, signage and merchandise. Each of the ski schools had their own distinctive colour uniforms so it was easy to spot the instructors and the waiting points.
  • Digital – we were encouraged to use hashtags when tweeting or posting images of our skiing on Facebook and Instagram. There is a resort app linked to ski lift passes so we could monitor our days skiing performance and was the subject of many conversation during Apres Ski when we compared our routes, distance and altitude achieved.
  • Measurement – because we had to enter our email address when uploading the app, we were then sent a post-holiday survey link with the opportunity to win back our lift pass costs.

If you need help feeling inspired, or to discuss branding, how your business can benefit from digital options or how to measure performance. Give me a call and let’s have a coffee (or a Vin Chaud) and talk marketing!
